Advanced Guide
Sound Sources
- Keyboard: Playable via mouse, touch, or QWERTY keyboard (A,S,D...). Octave is controlled with the '<' and '>' buttons or Z/X keys. The notes are automatically quantized to the selected Key and Scale.
- Note Sequencer: A 16 or 32-step monophonic sequencer. Toggle steps on/off with the square buttons and set the pitch with the knobs above each step. Note values are quantized to the global scale. Important: When you adjust the OCTAVE RANGE, the new range only applies to a step's knob after you turn it. Pre-existing notes will not change their octave relationship until their knob is moved.
- Drum Machine: Five lanes (Kick, Snare, Clap, Closed Hat, Open Hat) with independent step and rate controls. Step velocity is controlled by the small knob above each step. Preview sounds by clicking the instrument name.
- Generated Melody: The "GENERATE" button creates a random melody based on the selected Key, Scale, and bar length.
Performance Tools
- Arpeggiator: When active, holds notes played on the keyboard and sequences them based on the selected Mode and Rate. The HOLD button will sustain the arpeggio even after keys are released.
- Pattern Recorder: Records and loops keyboard input in real-time. Press REC to begin recording; press again to stop and begin looping. You can overdub by pressing REC again while the loop is playing.
- Swing: Located in the Drum Machine section, this knob applies a global swing quantization to all drum patterns, delaying every second 16th note.
Sound Shaping
- Waveforms: Each sound source (Keyboard, Sequencer, Generated) has an independent waveform selector. In addition to standard VA waves, there are several sampled and synthesized instruments, plus a CHAOS mode for unpredictable tones.
- Synth FX & Envelopes: Each of the three synth sources (Keyboard, Sequencer, Generated) now has its own dedicated sound-shaping section, including a standard ADSR envelope, a Glide (portamento) control (only on Sequencer), and a multimode filter with Cutoff and Resonance. Each also has its own gain knob.
- Drum Mixer & FX: The Drum Machine panel now contains its own mixer for all drum sounds (including a master volume knob), as well as a dedicated FX chain for Drive, Reverb, Delay (with time control), and a master low-pass Filter with Resonance.
Utilities
- Save/Load: You can save the entire state of the synthesizer—including all knob positions, sequences, and settings—to a JSON file. Use Load to restore a previously saved state. This includes any patterns recorded with the Pattern Recorder.
- RECORD: This allows you to record the master output of the synthesizer. Press the button once to arm the recording (a countdown will begin), and press it again to stop and download the .wav file.
- MIDI: The OR-C 100 will automatically connect to any detected MIDI input device, allowing you to play the keyboard synth with an external controller.
